Duane - thanks for the update; it's inspired me to do the same (in case any one cares)

1. As most of you could probably tell I more or less took the year off from fantasy football; I competed in only two leagues (just missed the playoffs in one and wasn't even close in the other)...I also sort of let DW just sit this year putting VERY little time, energy, effort, or money into it Sad It shows too because there really hasn't been much going on at the site all season (and rather than build more and new features, I've actually gone backwards taking almost all the features out!). To be honest, I'm in a little bit of a cross roads with the fantasy football world as a whole...clearly there is money to be made; and there's a lot of interesting things to do (I still really want to build a proper mock draft site/software), but there's also a lot of BS on the business side of things now and there are a lot of companies (big and small) all trying to fight over the same hard core players (ie. people who are willing to spend any money on fantasy football)...I also come with the extra baggage that I just can't bring myself to charge people money if I don't really think the product warrants it (when I started DW I felt like I had a set of tools and content that nobody else provided and that was worth the measly $4.95 I was charging...and I think if I had gotten enough people back then to know about/check it out, I would be a wealthy and famous person now...since then though, other sites and services caught up and in many cases started providing much better content thanks in part to inside industry connections [that's what happens when big companies with big money come to the party])...anyway, once I stopped charging for DW it has been harder and harder to justify the time I want to spend on it...that and really I just can't seem to find a direction to go with the overall site right now (and without a plan to make money I can't figure out a worth-while way to draw new people in ... as it turns out that is always a problem with this type of service anyway, since if it's good people don't want to share the secret and if it's not good then it's not worth talking about either...so in the end, the only way I've been able to find new people is mostly to buy them with advertising...but that costs money and so you see the catch 22 problem here)...so for now DW is what you see, and continues to have plans in my future...I'm just not sure what those are right now (but there's no way I'm giving up all the great people I continue to meet because of DW)

(lost the rest of this post in a blog crash -- will reload it asap but need to clean up some other things around here first!)

Kevin Marshall - Who's That?

I'm just your basic programmer. I can't spell to save my life, I'm not the greatest story teller, and I often ramble on about nothing. This blog showcases all of that!
